How to check the MOT status/history of a vehicle
You can now check the MOT status of any vehicle that you own, or are considering buying. You are able to do this either by calling the MOT status check service on 0870 330 0444 (national rate) or clicking the link below:
If you are buying a second hand vehicle, and want to check its MOT status you will need the registration mark of the vehicle and either the test number from the new style MOT test certificate or the document reference number from the V5C registration certificate.
The system will provide you with certain key information including make, model and colour of the vehicle, together with the MOT status and expiry date of the valid MOT. The vehicle's mileage recorded at the time of the MOT test will also be disclosed when you make your enquiry.

Louisa Aizlewood1 StarWarning light came on my dash so i took my car here as never had an issue with MOTs and other basic work. They said it needed a fuel recon so paid 90 ISH for this, the next day the light came back on so took it back and they advised a full service due to changes in oil from the recon so paid 125 ISH for this. The next day the Light was on again so took it back to be told I now needed a dpf clean for another 800 quid. At this point I'm obviously concerned I've already spent over 200 and still have the same issue so I took it to another garage for a second opinion. They advised injector 3 needed replacing for roughly 420 quid, asked them numerous times to check the dpf and they said it was fine. Paid the 420 to sort injector 3 and been driving the car for four days since without an issue. The 200 wasted at this garage was nearly over 1k. Absolutely ridiculous.Thursday 17th February 2022
