Air conditioning not working or not cold enough?
The performance of your vehicle's air conditioning system detriorates over time and one of the most common problems is when it simply runs low of gas. This is usually when you find that the circulated air isnt very cold. An air conditioing recharge of gas is quite simple to do and takes approx 1 1/2 hours. (Unfortunately, we are currently unable to recharge newer cars using R1234yf gas).

Bring your car to MECA without invalidating your new car warranty!
'Block Exemption Regulations' now give you a lot more freedom in deciding who should look after your car. Most new car buyers are unaware that they are no longer required to get their servicing and repairs carried out at the main dealership to keep the warranty up-to-date, so our customers are pleasantly surprised to discover that they can take their new car to MECA Car Services instead at a far cheaper cost, without invalidating the manufacturer's warranty.

Tony Stevens1 StarWe needed to MOT our family car, and we were looking for a new garage, as our garage which we had used for 10 years had closed permanently, due to the owner retiring.
We chose Meca due to great reviews.
The car was fairly reliable and hadn't ever required huge jobs unexpectedly. My wife was phoned and told that the czar failed and the bill would be just over £1000.
This was a huge shock to us, as this was in the week before Christmas. The car failed on a tyre, headlight beams(lights needed polishing), position lamp not working(a bulb), suspension arm ball joint worn and both front suspension arm pin or bush worn. My wife phoned me at work to discuss, I asked if that quote was definitely correct, as it seemed high, and she said it was as she double checked. We decided to collect the car, and work something out. We were now very stressed out and trying to get other garages to quote for the work, which was difficult, as it was the 23rd of Dec and they were all ready to close for the festive period. We had a new tyre fitted at £65, I polished the headlights myself. We then received two quotes for the suspension failures. One from Pinhoe garage, and another from Exeter Auto Centre. It actually turned out that Exeter Auto Centre carried out the MOT on our car! Meca must take them there to be tested, and just carry out the repair work. Pinhoe Garage quoted just over £400 and Exeter Auto Centre quoted £380. We took the car to Exeter Auto Centre and they carried out the work and did the MOT, so we didn't even need to go back to Meca.
I can only speak from our experience, but I would never return to Meca and would not recommend them either. If you do use them, please get a couple of other quotes for the repair work, as we would have spent £500+ more than we should have. Possibly consider using Exeter Auto Centre instead, as they are the ones who will MOT anyway.
I have no idea about the quality of Meca's work, no doubt it fine. They were pleasant to deal with also. This will teach us not to rely on reviews and go on old fashioned 'word of mouth'.Monday 10th January 2022
