Andrew at Lumen Electrical Services Ltd was recommended to me by another Electrician I had used previously, but who was no longer offering services in my postcode. I filled in the request form on Lumen's website and received a very prompt reply and quote from Andrew. The work was to install new interlinked smoke and heat detectors in my flat as required by Scottish legislation from February 2022. I also opted for an optional CO detector and wall control switch to test/silence the alarms. I was happy with Andrew's quote, which I accepted online and was then offered an appointment within 1 week. Craig duly turned up at the correct time, fitted the detectors & switch and took time to explain how everything worked. I was very pleased with the quality of the equipment supplied and with Craig's workmanship and passed all this on to Andrew when I received a courtesy call from him later the same day. Lumen Electrical Services Ltd is listed on Edinburgh Council's Trusted Trader Scheme and I will definitely use them again.

I have just contracted Lumen to update all the lights in the stairwell of my tenement block in Edinburgh and to have a new security light installed outside the stair door. First thing I would like to mention is that Andrew was quick to respond to my request for a quote and was very knowledgeable about what I needed. Second, Andrew was very understanding of how long it takes to get agreement on anything (and funds) from other owners when it comes to tenement blocks and was willing to honour what was already a very reasonable quote after three months. Third, whatever question I had, Andrew swiftly answered. Fourth, the day before the big day, I had a reminder from Lumen which even told me who was coming, which was nice and reassuring. Fifth, on the day, I had Connor, Jordan and their apprentice, who arrived punctually and worked diligently and got the job done fast. They were also very polite, professional, tidy and a pleasure to have around. Sixth, I was already very happy with the work they had provided, but then I received a courtesy call from Andrew in the evening checking everything was well. All in all, it was a 200% service. We have used Lumen twice over the past year and received excellent service both times. Andrew was professional, helpful, on time and great value. We felt full confidence in his work, especially after a less-than-good experience with a different electrician. We first used Andrew to do some general work in our flat (fit a light, cap off an old plug and repair our communal landing light) and then again when our communal tenement stair lights completely failed. Andrew had advised on his first visit while repairing our landing light that the stair lighting system was extremely old and would likely fail at some point. He was proved right just a few months later and I had no hesitation in recommending him to the rest of the tenement tenants to do the work. This work was completed on time without mess or fuss, and the lights now work better than before, with the added advantage of having guaranteed emergency lighting in the event of a power cut, which we did not have before. Andrew recommended these type of lights and it provides peace of mind for the future. I will certainly use Andrew's services again and recommend him without hesitation.
