Sparks and smoke in the fuse box prompted our call to an emergency electrician, chosen at random from Google. We really lucked in with our choice of Jedi Services. Despite it being a Sunday morning, David arrived at our home within a couple of hours. A cable had actually burned right through! (I'd been in the shower and could so easily have been electrocuted had my husband not acted promptly, switching off the electical supply at the mains.) David then rendered us completely safe, instructed us to keep the electricity off overnight and said he'd return first thing the following day. It was clear he had to juggle work commitments to fit us in but he seemed keen to not have us cancel the short holiday we were planning to go on the very next day. So, sure enough, shortly after 9am on the Monday morning, David was again at our door, with Paul, and, within an hour, our 34 year old fuse box had beeen replaced with a brand new RCD consumer unit and everything was functioning beautifully again. A subsequent visit was arranged for the work to be certified - for 10 years - by a third electrician, Phil and for all existing wiring to be checked and a couple of faulty wall sockets replaced. You can never put a price on your safety but we felt Jedi's fees were very reasonable indeed and would certainly not hesitate to recommend them.
