Spent more money on a well known garage for a full service expecting to receive a good service both on the car as well as a customer. I was so wrong. They give you two time slots (8am & 11:30am) that you must deliver your car for. Went with 11:30 and decided to head into town for about an hour and a half, walked back to the garage to find that the car was still in the same place. I understand that there is a list to do so I was slightly annoyed but understood. Deciding to go for a walk which was about another 90 minutes, headed back to the garage to see the car only just being driven into the garage. 3 hours before it was even touched a mechanic, it was for 30 minutes before a phone call to say they have done 77 point check and started listing all of the additional charges that they suggest need doing. Another £190 on top of the £199. Absolute terrible service from start to finish, if you think paying extra will get you better service. Think again. Don’t bother, go somewhere else.

Shiraz the receptionist was very helpful and polite. They should get more staff in however as he was the only one in the reception while phones were going on and off while dealing with us at the same time. But i can’t complain with how he dealt with the situation as he got my car ready for my trip down to london. As a passerby in the city of york it was a very welcoming experience

When I first arrived, I was informed that the time booked was a drop off time and that I was expected to leave my car for 6/7 hours. I have never had to leave a car that long before. I was advised to go a different day, still leaving me without a car for 6 hours. The people I dealt with weren't very custom friendly. Quite blunt saying 'that's just how it is' was my response when I asked about the time. No smiles or friendliness with anyone I spoke to there. Will be using another garage next time

DO NOT USE. I booked a service only to turn up with them saying they're not going to be able to do it. They made no effort to contact me and simply said we've got reduced staff so not likely going to be done, even though mine would have been one of the 1st there. They just don't care. No effort to contact anyone who was booked in that day and just waiting for them to come in. Shocking service and I now have to wait for a refund.

I arrived earlier than booked for my MOT test, however, they accommodated me and my car passed its test and I was away within a very short time. Thanks. Latest visit 6/1/21: Booked a ‘big’ service and MOT. Dropped car off and awaited call when finished. Instead, got a call to say that the car needed new spark plugs. The cost would be £112 pounds. I was under the impression that a big service included oil, filter, plugs etc. It certainly has for the last 45 years I’ve been paying for car servicing. Needless to say I did not have this ‘extra’ carried out and will do it myself. This is intimidating to customers, is misleading and judging by recent comments a common problem. Won’t be using Halfords again for either MOTs or servicing despite being a shareholder. Unimpressed to say the least!
