Warren Coles1 StarWent in to get some brake pads fitted. Asked them if they could check the rear left tyre as it had dropped pressure significantly, sending off the warning light twice in the last week or so. Specifically told them I was taking a trip so needed it sorted. When I picked up my car I was told by the manager there was no visible signs of any problem. One day later the pressure was down again, but it was too late as I was on my trip. Had to keep adding and it was pretty nerve wracking.
Got back to Exeter and took it back to Halfords, and surprise, surprise there was a screw in the sidewall. I suggested, perhaps, they didn't check it properly first time and they went into a defensive belligerent mood, saying 'if it was there before their technicians would have found it' and that was the end of the story.
I can't prove it, but: same tyre, same problem, and pressure gone again a few days later, it is obvious they missed the problem, even more sad when they were changing brake disc and pads on that wheel and staring right at it from underneath.
All things are forgivable but not when you don't admit your mistake. Even one guy tried to blame his technician, but if you don't supervise properly then it is your fault.
In the end, can't trust them again.Wednesday 10th November 2021
